The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) in Monona seeks qualified, energetic individuals to join its team in a dynamic indoor/outdoor position educating the public on a variety of environmental and natural history topics. Staff are now being hired to deliver ALNC weekend educational programming, guided tours, events and public hours. Activities focus on topics related to local flora and fauna, seasonal phenology, climate change, renewable energy, and the history and teachings of Aldo Leopold and his family. Staff lead group tours, and interpretive programs, teach birthday parties, lead scout or other organized youth group programs and welcome and assist visitors of all ages during public hours as they explore and engage with hands-on activities and varied programming. Naturalist Position – Full-Time Seasonal – no longer accepting applications
The Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC) seeks qualified applicants for several naturalist positions to teach spring school-year field trip programs and summer camp programs from mid-April through the end of August. The primary responsibility of this position is the planning and delivery of inquiry-based, experiential nature studies programs for school field trip groups, summer camps, and other youth groups. Additionally, naturalists work with the Nature Center’s other education professionals to plan and conduct programming for preschool and scout groups, home school students, weekend and evening programs for the general public, birthday programs, overnights and special events. Ideal candidates will be able to manager their schedule and work well in a team environment with other staff. Flexibility, initiative, the ability to problem solve, and a sense of humor are a must. Summer Camp Coordinator – Full-Time Permanent – no longer accepting applications
This is a combined teaching and coordination position and will be responsible for the successful coordination of summer camp operations (40%) and teach hands-on, inquiry based environmental education programming coordination (50%, primarily during the school year). This position will also coordination vacation day programs during the school year (on dates that local school districts are off of school, such as winter break/spring break and various other dates throughout the school year.)
