Get hooked on this month’s programs at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center!  Visit ALNC during our public hours in June to enjoy our grounds, drop-in self-guided activities, and exhibits, theaters and displays focused on Feeling Fishy! Dive underwater in our virtual pond, drop a line at our indoor fishing station, dip in our pond with a family backpack, learn about local pond critters, and discover the connection between climate change and fishing here in Wisconsin and around the world.

June’s special features and activities (free or included in admission):

  • Pond Critter Fishing: Cast a line in our family phenology center to practice identifying the fish and other creatures that live in our pond and neighboring wetlands. See what you can snag and check out what you caught with our ID guides. Then, head outside to spot this pond life in action.
  • Oceans in MotionThis multi-sensory visual presentation conveys a dramatic story about the tapestry of life in the ocean, astounding in its variety and vital to our survival. This Science on a Sphere film conveys the urgency of confronting the threats to marine ecosystems and fisheries and inspiring stories of what people across the globe are doing to protect the ocean.
  • Climate and Fishing in Wisconsin: Fishing is a part of Wisconsin life – all year round. See how changes to Wisconsin’s climate are affecting fly fishing, ice fishing, tourism, and recreation across the state
  • Dive Under the Pond: Swim with the fishes as you immerse yourself in our virtual panoramic pond!
  • From fascinating fish facts and tips for fellow anglers, share what you’ve learned in your own Fishy ForeCast in our green screen TV studio about what to expect in the lakes, rivers, and streams around Wisconsin!
  • And, be sure to drop a line in our Wetland Nature Nook and check out our Family Trailside Backpacks, full of fun tools and materials for exploring our pond and wetland!

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center would like to thank ATC and DuPont for supporting our monthly exhibit themes. Don’t forget — themes change monthly, so there is always something new to discover!
