Vacation Day: Backyard Bird Count at ALNC!

February 15, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$10 – $55

Every year, people from all over the country come together to count birds for the Great American Backyard Bird Count, a citizen science project that monitors bird populations. Each checklist submitted during the GBBC helps researchers at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society learn more about how birds are doing, and how to protect them and the environment we share. In addition to collecting this info, we’ll hike using binoculars to search for birds, fill bird feeders, and have all sorts of feathery fun!

Cost: $55/child (10% discount for members)

Additional info:
— Vacation Day programming is designed for ages 5-12. Attendees will be split into groups according to age so material may be adjusted accordingly.
— Please send your child with a sack lunch, an extra set of clothing, appropriate clothing to spend the majority of the day outdoors, and bug spray and/or sunscreen if appropriate.
— ALNC provides a morning and afternoon snack.

Extended Day is available from 8:30-9am and 4-5:30pm at an additional cost. See previous page to register for Extended Day.
