Trees provide timber, food, energy, clean air, habitats, recreation, and resources for humans and animals. This month, learn about Wisconsin’s forests and examine how trees are like living history books, reflecting changes in their physical environment. Play in our tree hollow, practice hands-on tree identification and urban forest monitoring, and check out our Good Oak: Tree Cookie Timeline exhibit and Digital Docent walking tour. Public Program: Candlelit Snowshoe Hike

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center, City of Monona, and City of Madison are teaming up for a candlelight evening snowshoe through the trails at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, Woodland Park and Edna Taylor Conservation Park. After snowshoeing, warm up by a roaring fire with a cup of hot chocolate or check out the ALNC’s Climate Education Center and Nature Nook exhibits. Continue reading
