Adventurers I (10-12 year olds) 2017

Member registration will open February 24th.
Non-member registration will open March 10th.

1M. FROM BOOKS TO BOOTS!                         June 12-16                                   $400
9am – 4pm Monday – Wednesday; 9am Thursday – 4pm Friday
(1 night overnight)
We’ll exchange school textbooks for hiking boots and the indoors for the outdoors as we explore ALNC, two state conservancies, and a state park. We’ll end the week with an overnight at AL9M. NC’s Black Earth campus where we’ll stargaze, roast s’mores, and listen for the sounds of nighttime wildlife!  What better way to kick off summer vacation?!

June 12-16: Extended Day

2M. GONE CAMPING!                         
  June 19-23                                  $430
9am – 4pm Monday-Tuesday; 9am Wednesday – 4pm Friday
(2 night overnight)
There are so many great places to camp in Wisconsin, but we’ll camp at one of the most popular; Devil’s Lake State Park! On the first two days, we’ll learn camping fundamentals such as planning and packing for a camping trip, pitching a tent and cooking over a fire. On Wednesday, we’ll head out for our two night overnight adventure and test our skills while hiking along the Ice Age Trail! Hiking, swimming, storytelling around the campfire–what a wonderful time we will have!

June 19-23: Extended Day

3M. KICKAPOO RIVER TRIP I                        June 26-30                            $530
9am – 4pm Monday; 9am Tuesday- 4pm Friday
(3 night overnight)
The Kickapoo, known as the “crookedest river in the world” is a beautiful 125 mile river that meanders through the Driftless region. This river system, one of the oldest in the state, features many unique rock formations, wildlife to observe, and places to explore. Before we head out on our adventure, we’ll cover the basics of camping, canoeing and get our gear ready to go.  After 3 nights on the river, we’ll return home with a sense of achievement, confidence and newly made friendships.

4M. FUN AT WORK!                                    July 3-7                                        $375
9am – 4pm Monday, Wednesday – Friday (No camp Tuesday, July 4)

Would you like to get a behind the scenes tour of the Henry Vilas Zoo?  Or meet the people who ensure Madison’s lakes are clean and safe for summer fun?  Madison area professionals will give us hands-on experience and behind the scenes secrets about some local (and amazing) careers in science and the outdoors!

July 3-7: Extended Day

5M. WISCONSIN ROCKS                    July 10-14                                       $415
9am – 4pm Monday-Wednesday; 9am Thursday – 4pm Friday
(1 night overnight)
Wisconsin’s geological history will come alive in this week’s camp! You’ll grab Babcock ice cream after a tour of the UW Geology museum, go spelunking and earthcaching, visit a valley cabin, and check out Lake Superior rhyolite (without leaving Madison!). We’ll even hike to see where a glacier once ended. Our week will wrap up with an overnight adventure at ALNC’s Black Earth campus where we’ll explore the rolling hills of the Driftless region below our feet.

7M. WATER-FUL WISCONSIN                          July 24-28                               $415
9am – 4pm Monday-Friday

Wisconsin has more than 15,000 lakes and 82,000 miles of streams and rivers! This week we will fish, swim, hike and paddle. We’ll adventure at a bog named Beulah, a river named Sugar, as well as Horicon Marsh, the largest freshwater cattail marsh in
the United States! We’ll see plants and animals that call Wisconsin’s wetlands their home.  Join us for a wet week of fun!

July 24-28: Extended Day

9M. DISCOVERING ADVENTURES                     Aug. 7-11                                    $400
9am – 4pm Monday-Friday
(Day camps)
Join us for a week of adventure that includes climbing, kayaking and discovering! We will begin the week at ALNC, exploring nature with technology. Tuesday we’ll head to Milwaukee’s Discovery World, experiencing music, motion, and more! The week progresses with kayaks getting us closer to the wetland world, scaling a wall like a mountain climber, testing our courage on a ropes course, and discovering new friendships and adventure!

12M. Ecological Adventurers                   Aug. 28-Sept. 1                                  $325
Join us a final week of summer at ALNC! We’ll spend our week investigating different topics each day at our ALNC Monona location. From aquatics, where we’ll seine for fish and conduct a frog inventories, to a survival adventure in Edna Taylor, they’ll be something for everyone!
