DESCRIPTION: \n View the stars and night sky from above and below at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center this month! Practice your stargazing and experience life as a virtual astronaut\, exploring our planet and the worlds beyond – navigate your way through astronomical activities\, observe Earth from outer space\, orbit other planets\, gaze at constellations… Visit our exhibits 7 days a week during February to enjoy activities and adventures that are sure to be out of this world! \nActivities and programs include: \n\nThe Wanderers – Science on a Sphere: Take a tour of the solar system and view celestial bodies and astronomic imagery as you never have before: projected in realistic spherical form!\nNASA Eyes on the Solar System – Immersion Theater: click through NASA content in our interactive theater to learn about our home planet\, our solar system\, the universe beyond\, and the spacecraft exploring them all.\nConstellation Station: Practice identifying common constellations\, learn their stories and characters\, and come up with your own constellations!\nPlus\, imagery from NASA\, GoogleSky explorations\, hands-on activities\, and more. \n\nThe Aldo Leopold Nature Center would like to thank ATC and DuPont for supporting our monthly exhibit themes. DESCRIPTION:It’s snowing! Winter is full of so many opportunities to play in the snow\, from snow angels to snowmen and snow forts; winter provides us with great activities outside! Join us for an activity that allows us to experience all of winter’s beauty: snowshoeing. We will learn about some of the types of snowshoes that have been used and then strap on our own snowshoes which we will use while we hike the trails. Bring your boots and we will bring the ‘shoes. \nPlease note: This program is held snow or no snow as we still put on the snow shoes\, get a feel for them\, and then go on a hike to experience the outdoors in the winter time. Please see our cancelation policy for “pre-scheduled programs” if you are considering not attending if there is no snow. \nTime: 10:00-11:30am\nRelated Badge: Winter Fun Badge\nFee: $8/scout\nRegistration Deadline: One week prior to the program. \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Family Public Program: Owl You Need is Love... and Birds!
DESCRIPTION:Bring your family and loved ones to a fun-filled afternoon to celebrate Wisconsin’s true winter romantics…the owls!  Owls court through the cold\, dark winter evenings and by Valentine’s Day\, they are often sitting on a nest of eggs! In this celebration of owls\, we’ll learn how to recognize different owl calls\, make an owl craft\, head outside with binoculars to see and identify Wisconsin’s other winter bird residents.  We’ll submit our bird sightings to the Great Backyard Bird Count.  Come join us—it’ll be a hoot! \nCost: ALNC members: $6/person; Non-members: $10/person\nChildren age 3 and under are free. \nPre-registration recommended; walk-ins accepted until program capacity is reached. \n\n \n
