DESCRIPTION: \nGet hooked on this month’s programs at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center!  Visit ALNC during our public hours in June to enjoy our grounds\, drop-in self-guided activities\, and exhibits\, theaters and displays focused on Feeling Fishy! Dive underwater in our virtual pond\, drop a line at our indoor fishing station\, dip in our pond with a family backpack\, learn about local pond critters\, and discover the connection between climate change and fishing here in Wisconsin and around the world. \n June’s special features and activities (free or included in admission): \n\nPond Critter Fishing: Cast a line in our family phenology center to practice identifying the fish and other creatures that live in our pond and neighboring wetlands. See what you can snag and check out what you caught with our ID guides. Then\, head outside to spot this pond life in action.\nOceans in Motion: This multi-sensory visual presentation conveys a dramatic story about the tapestry of life in the ocean\, astounding in its variety and vital to our survival. This Science on a Sphere film conveys the urgency of confronting the threats to marine ecosystems and fisheries and inspiring stories of what people across the globe are doing to protect the ocean.\nClimate and Fishing in Wisconsin: Fishing is a part of Wisconsin life – all year round. See how changes to Wisconsin’s climate are affecting fly fishing\, ice fishing\, tourism\, and recreation across the state \nDive Under the Pond: Swim with the fishes as you immerse yourself in our virtual panoramic pond!\nFrom fascinating fish facts and tips for fellow anglers\, share what you’ve learned in your own Fishy ForeCast in our green screen TV studio about what to expect in the lakes\, rivers\, and streams around Wisconsin!\nAnd\, be sure to drop a line in our Wetland Nature Nook and check out our Family Trailside Backpacks\, full of fun tools and materials for exploring our pond and wetland!\n\nThe Aldo Leopold Nature Center would like to thank ATC and DuPont for supporting our monthly exhibit themes. SUMMARY:Adult Workshop: SAWW Chainsaw Training\, Level III
DESCRIPTION:Please note: This workshop will be held at our Black Earth location. \nScroll down for directions and to view a map of the location. \nPhoto Credit: Matt Smith\nParticipants in Level 3 SAWW training will spend most of the day in the field practicing techniques to operate chainsaws safely\, comfortably and productively. \nTopics covered include: review of information from Levels 1 & 2\, focus on planning and executing limbing and bucking.  Participants in Level 3 should be fully equipped and prepared to work with and maintain their own chainsaw; helmets are mandatory. \nHands-on training gives participants the opportunity to fell and limb or buck at least one tree. \nPhoto Credit: Matt Smith\nInstructor: Luke Saunders\, Forester with Adaptive Restoration LLC\, SAWW-certified trainer\, experienced sawyer and horse logger \nPlease Bring: Participants must bring a safety helmet\, and are encouraged to bring PPE\, chainsaw and any tools used to maintain the saw and sharpen chain. Please bring a bag lunch. Water is available on site. \nPlease note: Class limit is 12 and may be canceled if not enough registrants are obtained (minimum is 9). You will be notified of a cancellation and a full refund will be given if the class is cancelled. \n  \nPre-Registration is required.  \nRefunds will only be given to those who cancel 7 or more days before a program. All refunds are subject to a 15% administrative fee.\n\nIf Aldo Leopold Nature Center cancels a program\, a full refund will be given.\n \n \nFees: ALNC Members & Non-members: $135 \n  \n \n
