Walking on frozen water is an exciting winter experience!![]()

Currently, frozen in the Nature Center pond, you can find trees and other plants, variations in the ice, and many different bubbles (along with a few tadpoles) trapped in the ice. You can also view the nature center grounds from an angle you can’t always access, providing a new awareness and appreciation of this natural space. ![]()

While walking on frozen water can be fun, it can also be dangerous. It’s important to be aware of how thick the ice is, and which direction the water is moving underneath, if you plan to walk on it. The ice on our pond is measured regularly to determine whether it is safe to walk on or not. If you have plans to go out on the pond, please check the sign in the lobby. You’ll find it near the weather station by the front desk.![]()
