Program Times
- Programs are 1.5 hours long but can be extended to 2 hours to allow for longer exploration, additional activities, or more in-depth investigation.
- Morning programs can be scheduled between 9:00am and 12:00pm.
- Afternoon programs can be scheduled between 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
Program Capacities
- The number of students we can accommodate at a time varies throughout the week (see table below).
- In general, 3 classrooms (or roughly 72 students) is our maximum capacity.
- We can occasionally accommodate larger groups (4 classrooms, or roughly 96 students) on select days; please email schools@aldoleopoldnaturecenter.org for availability.
- ALNC will provide two educators per classroom to keep group sizes small.
Program Fees
- Program pricing includes all school staff and one adult chaperone per ALNC educator. Additional chaperones are $5 each.
- Check out Nature Net’s Nature Express Program to see if you qualify to receive up to $300 in funding towards your field trip.
When and How to Pay
We appreciate payment on or before the day of your field trip.
To pay ahead of time, please:
- PREFERRED: Mail a check to ALNC at 330 Femrite Drive, Monona, WI 53716. Please include your school/group name and program date on the check.
- Email business@aldoleopoldnaturecenter.org to set up an ACH payment.
- Call 608-216-9382 with a credit card number.
To pay on the day of your field trip, please:
- PREFERRED: Bring a check to the front desk or give it to the staff person who greets you when you arrive. Please include your school/group name and program date on the check.
- Bring cash or a credit card to the front desk.
Program Logistics
- A complete list of program options is available here: K-2, 3-5, 6-8.
- Programs are held rain, snow, or shine, and a majority of activities take place outdoors on trails that may be wet or muddy. Please remind students (and adults) to dress for the season and the weather!
- Name tags are helpful if you have them.
- Our goal is to begin programming at the scheduled start time. If possible, please arrive early to use the restrooms and organize into groups beforehand.
- Our staff will meet you at ALNC’s bus parking lot. This is the first lot on the right hand side after you pull into our driveway. If you will be late for your scheduled start time, please call ALNC’s front desk at 608-221-0404 x 0 to let us know.
- Spanish-speaking EEs may be available upon request to (1) teach the program in English and answer questions in Spanish or (2) teach the program in Spanish and answer questions in Spanish or English.
- Groups are welcome to bring sack lunches to eat on site before or after programming. Please let us know if you’d like to do this when booking your program.

Cancellation Policy
Please notify ALNC of any cancellations at least 14 days prior to your field trip to receive a full refund. Failure to do so will result in a full charge – there are no refunds for missed programs.
