Some birds stick around in winter.![]()

The Nature Preschool Chickadees spent the last few weeks learning about winter birds. On their daily hikes, they saw many birds, including blue jays, chickadees, finches, juncos, woodpeckers, geese, sparrows, and sandhill cranes. They also learned how to use binoculars, which allowed them to get a closer look at the birds they saw. ![]()

They played games and completed activities, where they acted like birds. At one of the stations, they acted like woodpeckers and mimicked them by pulling ‘insects’ out of a log with tweezers. They made bird-themed crafts, such as cheerio bird feeders and colorful feathers.![]()

They won’t see all of the birds they saw these past few weeks as winter settles in, but they’ll hopefully see some of them!.![]()
