ALNC UPDATES

Our facility will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 22nd through Friday, Nov. 24th in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Our building will reopen to the public at 10am on Saturday, Nov. 25th.

As always, our grounds and trails featuring self-guided tours are free and open daily from dawn until dusk.

Welcome! Our facility is open on weekdays from 9am to 4pm and on weekends from 10am to 2pm.

Wearing a face mask indoors is optional. Because we are a childcare facility and follow public health protocols, we have limited access to some public offerings and areas of our facility. We appreciate your patience as we work to find a healthy balance of access and safety for our community.

As always, our grounds and trails featuring self-guided tours are free and open daily from dawn until dusk.

Land Steward Work Day

March 16, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every month that begins at 10:00am on day Third of the month, repeating until November 16, 2019

Snow day!?! Snow way!

Due to the early season snow, we have decided to cancel the last Land Steward Work Day of the year, scheduled for this Saturday, November 16th.

Please take the day off and rest…maybe with a cup of hot cocoa after a late fall hike?

Our facilities and grounds will remain open for the day.

Land Stewards & Restorationists — We Need YOU!

Interested in helping restore and maintain ALNC’s prairie, marsh, and woodlands? Join us one Saturday a month, March through November, to help control invasive species, seed with native plants, get dirty and have some fun! Volunteer work days will focus mainly on land management and other projects as needed. Work days may be cancelled or planned activities modified due to inclement weather.

Here are just a few Land Stewards projects:

  • Cut honeysuckle and other unwanted brush
  • Mulching
  • Trail maintenance
  • Pull garlic mustard and other invasive species
  • Transplant wildflowers
  • Collect and label seeds
  • Garden work
  • Pick up litter

Join us for one of our upcoming volunteer work days! Larger groups — please call ahead. Otherwise, simply show up and ALNC staff will greet you upon arrival. Adults and youth welcome.

Please contact us at (608) 221-0404 or at alnc@aldoleopoldnaturecenter.org for more information.
