Celebrate Make Music Day with an afternoon of children’s music!
We’re welcoming two groups:
-
Lil’ Dawgeez — 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.
A father-daughter duo performing all the preschool favorites for kids everywhere. -
Music Avenue: Family Music Class— 3:00 to 3:45 p.m.
Music Avenue is a nonprofit music education organization whose classes focus on infants, toddlers, and young children interacting musically with their caregivers. Participants will experience the joy of artistic movement, a steady beat, singing, and listening. Activities are highly interactive and extremely fun! Geared toward ages 0–4, all ages are welcome to join this community event.
Pack a blanket, bring some snacks, and spend an afternoon exploring music and nature as we welcome summer.
Take part in an international musical movement! Make Music Day is celebrated on the same day in more than 1,000 cities across dozens of countries around the world. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day is different from a typical music festival. Every kind of musician—young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion—pours into streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
Dane County communities participating in Make Music Day include Cambridge, DeForest, Madison, Middleton, Monona, Sun Prairie, and Waunakee. For the first time, the Aldo Leopold Nature Center will be one of the venue locations for Make Music Monona!
