🐢🥚 Baby snapping turtles hatch from August to October.![]()

Snapping turtles are the largest turtles in Wisconsin, but when they first hatch, they’re only about the size of a quarter. Their tiny size and soft shells make them vulnerable to predators. If they’re lucky enough to survive until their shells harden, they face far fewer threats, and they can live surprisingly long lives: around 30 years in the wild and up to 50 years in captivity!![]()
