The Chickadees hiked to the Children’s Shack and read a story about Aldo Leopold inside. The Children’s shack is a 3/4 size replica of Aldo Leopold’s Shack in Sauk County, where Aldo and his family spent many weekends practicing phenology by recording their observations of the natural world.![]()

The Nature Preschoolers also practiced their observation skills by making a ‘bird-day’ cake to attract winter birds. They left the cake on the Nature Preschool back porch and observed which feathery friends joined the celebration from the comfort of their classroom!![]()
