FAQ

What’s included in my ticket price?

Pickle gear (paddles, balls), Steve the Pickle Pro to teach you pickleball if needed, appetizers, a visit from the bar cart (cash bar), rockin’ tunes on the sound system, some fun add-on games, friends, and the opportunity to fund preschoolers playing in the prairie.

Be sure to bring your own court shoes and pickle gear if you have it, as well as a form of payment for the cash bar and add-on raffles or games.

Do I need to be a member of Nakoma to participate?

No, everyone is welcome! The cost of the non-member guest fee is covered by event sponsors (see below).

Can I help sponsor this event?

Yes! There are costs to throwing any good party – the venue, the food, the guest fees, the Pickle Pro. In an effort to cover these costs and have all proceeds from ticket sales go directly to childrens’ outdoor programming, we are inviting event sponsors to pump up the power of the pickle purse with a pledge for sponsorship.

What do I get for being an event sponsor?

Our eternal gratitude! The knowledge that, with your sponsorship, all ticket sale proceeds go directly to funding children’s outdoor educational programming, as well as some tactful recognition at the event. (If you’d like to remain anonymous, just let us know.)

How do I pay for my tickets?

Registration dues will be invoiced to you prior to the event. You can pay online or bring payment to the event.

What if it rains?

We can’t play pickleball in the rain but the Nakoma Master’s Bar will be open and we invite participants to join in a fun afternoon of comradery and complimentary appetizers.

Check the website HERE for day-of conditions and to confirm the event is a go.

In the event of cancellation, we hope that you’ll consider donating the cost of your ticket but if you would like a refund, we’re happy to accommodate.

What are preschoolers doing in the prairie?

At the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, our mission is to nurture children, their well-being, and environmental sustainability through connecting and learning in nature. One of our core programs, established in 2019, is the immersive Nature Preschool. The Preschool is tailored for curious minds ages 3 to 5. It follows the Kindness Curriculum (developed by the Center for Healthy Minds) which invites wonder, from discovering hidden forest treasures to experimenting with natural elements, fostering imagination and creativity.

Every student is equipped with a full-body rain suit and snowsuit, as we believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad equipment and poor preparation. Additionally, in order to equitably offer this essential programming to a diverse group of families, we offer scaled tuition rates and tuition assistance for families in need. Hence the need for funding – and fun pickle parties to make that happen!
