Home School (Age 9-14): Snow Birds
February 14, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$10Not all birds migrate south for the winter time! Some of them brave Wisconsin’s cold, snowy winter and are still able to find food! We will walk through the habitats of the nature center in search of these brave birds. Humans can help birds by putting up bird feeders, and we will make a simple bird feeder to take home so you can feed the birds in your neighborhood.
9-12 year olds will record birds seen and enter data for the Great Backyard Bird Count. (Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time. Now, more than 160,000 people participate!)
For all sessions, registration deadline is 48 hours prior to the class. This is done to allow for ALNC to plan for small group sizes and staffing needs. Please call (608)-216-9370 to inquire about space if trying to register within the 48 hours prior to a program.
$10/child (ALNC Members save 10%)
