Family Public Program: Under the Starry Skies

February 5, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$7 – $29

1024px-Night_Sky_Stars_Trees_02Please note: This event is at our MONONA location– NOT our Black Earth location. Scroll down for address and directions.

In the dark days of winter, there is much to be seen and heard!  Join us for an evening under the starry skies at our Monona campus. We’ll spend the evening hiking under the night sky to listen for owl calls during their peak winter courtship and viewing the Orion and Crab nebulas, Jupiter, and several other constellations through a telescope on the deck (weather permitting).  In between sky viewing and night hiking, warm-up by the fire in the lobby as well as participate in some indoor activities relating to owls and the night sky.  ALNC will have adult and child snowshoes available for use during night hikes.*

*Please note: This event will run with or without a clear sky! If the skies are too cloudy for star gazing a back-up plan is set for attendees to venture through the galaxies using ALNC’s newly upgrade Immersion Theater and Science on a Sphere theater!

Pre-registration preferred. Walk-ins accepted.
ALNC members:  $7/person or $25/family; Non-members: $8/person or $29/family
