CANCELED: Land Steward Work Day

September 19, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED FOR SEPTEMBER

With great consideration of the health of our community and following the recommendations of Public Health Madison and Dane County, the Land Steward Work Day in September has been canceled.

We invite you to continue to hike our trails, in a self-guided manner, while also practicing safe social distancing. Getting outside and spending time in nature can boost your immune system, reduce anxiety and release pent up energy.

Thank you for your support and please stay tuned to our homepage for more information on programming as the days unfold.

Land Stewards & Restorationists — We Need YOU!

Interested in helping restore and maintain ALNC’s prairie, marsh and woodlands? Join us one Saturday a month, March through October, to help control invasive species, seed with native plants, get dirty and have some fun! Volunteer work days will focus mainly on land management and other projects as needed. Work days may be cancelled or planned activities modified due to inclement weather.

Here are just a few Land Steward projects:

  • Cut honeysuckle and other unwanted brush
  • Mulching
  • Trail maintenance
  • Pull garlic mustard and other invasive species
  • Transplant wildflowers
  • Collect and label seeds
  • Garden work
  • Pick up litter

Join us for one of our upcoming volunteer work days! Larger groups — please call ahead. Otherwise, simply show up and ALNC staff will greet you upon arrival. Adults and youth welcome.

Please contact us at (608) 221-0404 or at alnc@aldoleopoldnaturecenter.org for more information.
