We spotted a green heron fishing in our pond!
Adult green herons are short and stocky with deep, blue-green backs and rusty-red necks and breasts. Their plumage helps them camouflage in the vegetation around small bodies of freshwater, where they hunt for small fish, amphibians, and aquatic insects.
