Bicycling for the Earth and Your Health

April 29, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

bike
Bicycle parking is available at ALNC, a Bicycle Benefits program member!

Celebrate Monona’s Year of the Bike and Green Living month at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center with the next in our public lecture series on nature, climate, energy, and sustainability! Join special guest Maggie Grabow (PhD, MPH) from the University of Wisconsin’s Global Health Institute to learn about the environmental and human health benefits of bicycling.

There are numerous reasons to ride your bicycle: it’s fun, convenient, cheaper, and better for the environment than driving — and it’s good for your health.

There are also various barriers to bicycling as well, oftentimes dependent on where you live. Research on the many “co-benefits” of bicycling will be presented along with ways you can get motivated to bicycle during Monona’s Year of the Bicycle.

Maggie Grabow is a postdoctoral fellow at the UW Global Health.

This free lecture will be held at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center on Wednesday, April 29th at 6 pm, followed at 7 pm by a tour of our green facility and exhibit area.

Registration is encouraged as space is limited.

Bike to this event! In keeping with the Aldo Leopold Nature Center’s interest in the environment, sustainability and healthy living, the reduction of carbon emissions and pollution, and following the Leopold ethic of ‘living lightly on the land,’ we have a policy of encouraging employees and visitors to use alternative and sustainable transportation choices to and from ALNC.

Bicycling routes, Bicycle Benefits member information, and more about ALNC’s Alternative Transportation Options are at this link.
