Global Climate Crisis: Risks & Opportunities for Public Health
August 20, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeConsidering the many pathways through which climate change can adversely affect our health, global climate disruption poses enormous risks to human and societal health. At the same time, interventions to combat climate change by choosing more sustainable energy sources can offer potentially large health dividends and lives saved. These opportunities, along with climate change health risks, will be discussed in this presentation by Dr. Jonathan Patz, Professor & Director of the Global Health Institute at UW-Madison.
The lecture is free and open to the public, and will be followed at 7:00PM by a guided tour of the Aldo Leopold Nature Center’s Climate Science Education Center, including a special presentation on Science On a Sphere (at a discounted tour rate of $5/participant, or free for Aldo Leopold Nature Center members).
Pre-registration for the lecture and tour are not required.
