“Into the Wind, Above the Clouds,” an author visit by Diane Ballweg
April 28 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

We’re excited to welcome Diane Ballweg, a long-time friend of Aldo Leopold Nature Center, to share excerpts from her recent memoir, Into the Wind, Above the Clouds: Love at First Flight. Known as “the Pink Pilot”, Diane’s storytelling illustrates the life lessons she learned from flying, ascending readers into her world to explore the different layers of life, just like the diverse layers of earth’s atmosphere.
As planes take off into the wind creating lift, Diane’s life takes flight into the winds of criticism, doubt, skepticism, and inequality. However, her optimism and perseverance allowed her to rise above the clouds of the pessimism around her and traverse through life with love, compassion, confidence, and a good sense of humor.
Along with sharing pieces of her own life, Diane expands on the importance of taking care of our Mother Earth as one human family, cherishing diversity and letting all voices be heard, regardless of race, age, or gender. Her personal experience fuels her inspiring and fascinating reflections that aim to understand and accept who we are.
Copies of Into the Wind, Above the Clouds: Love at First Flight will be available for purchase and signing at the event. $15 for paperback and $20 for hardcover. Complimentary beverages and snacks, including airplane cookies, will also be available.
You don’t have to be a pilot or an aviation enthusiast to grow from the “life lessons learned” at the end of each chapter.
Diane Ballweg is the owner of the 100-year-old local family business, Endres Manufacturing Company, and is a lifelong teacher, board leader, and philanthropist, striving to make positive change in the world.
