ALNC UPDATES

Our facility will be closed Monday, January 16th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day.
We plan to reopen on Tuesday, Jan 17th at 9am.

As always, you’re invited to hike our trails, which are open daily from dawn until dusk.

Welcome! Our facility is open on weekdays from 9am to 4pm and on weekends from 10am to 2pm.

Wearing a face mask indoors is optional. Because we are a childcare facility and follow public health protocols, we have limited access to some public offerings and areas of our facility. We appreciate your patience as we work to find a healthy balance of access and safety for our community.

As always, our grounds and trails featuring self-guided tours are free and open daily from dawn until dusk.

Sun Gazing / Observación del Sol

Craving a little sunshine on these dark, cold days? Join us this December to celebrate our Sun, the solstice, and all things solar all month long, including this special public program on Saturday, December 12:

Come to ALNC and take a look at the Sun with a special telescope! Learn about sunspots and solar flares. Connect the power of our star, the one we orbit around, with the landscape around us.

This is a bilingual English/Spanish activity conducted by PolarTREC teacher Juan Botella with support from UW Space Place and the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) through “El Universo es Tuyo” (The Universe Is Yours).

This program is free with regular admission to ALNC’s exhibit areas from 10am-2pm ($4 for ages 18+, $3 for children 3+, seniors, students and military personnel; free for ALNC members)

¡Ven al ALNC y mira el Sol con un telescopio! Descubre qué son las manchas solares y las erupciones solares. Conecta la potencia de nuestra estrella, alrededor de la cual orbitamos, con el paisaje a nuestro alrededor. Actividad bilingüe Inglés/Español conducida por el profesor PolarTREC Juan Botella con apoyo del UW Space Place y el Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC). Esta actividad es parte del proyecto “El Universo es Tuyo”.

Este programa es gratuito con la entrada regular a los espacios de exhibición del ALNC de 10 am a 2pm. ($4 para mayors de 18 años, $3 para niños mayores de 3 años, jubilados, estudiantes y persuni_es_tuyoonal militar; gratis para los miembros del ALNC)
