Public Program: Candlelit Snowshoe Hike
December 16 @ 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm| This event is free!
Hundreds of softly glowing lights illuminate the trails of Aldo Leopold Nature Center, Edna Taylor Conservancy and Woodland Park. Snowshoe or hike and enjoy a roaring bonfire outside and activities inside the beautiful Aldo Leopold Nature Center.
In partnership with Madison Parks and Monona Parks & Recreation, all ages and abilities are welcome to this FREE snowshoeing event! After snowshoeing, warm up by a roaring fire; and for a small fee, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, some tasty popcorn or make your very own s’more. Head into the nature center to learn about local habitats, explore our planet and navigate December’s theme in ALNC’s exhibits, interactive theaters and Nature Nook play spaces. Suggested donation is $5 for family admission to the exhibit space.
This is a FREE event with FREE parking and a FREE shuttle from the Meriter Monona parking lot (6408 Copps Ave); popcorn & hot chocolate and s’mores will be available for a small fee.
If you have your own snowshoes, we encourage you to bring them with you to the hike. If you do not own snowshoes, adult and child sizes will be available on a first come, first served basis. Snowshoes will also be available for purchase at the event from Chalet Ski and Patio for those that are interested in continuing the sport.
Come one, come all! No preregistration is required! FREE parking at the Meriter Monona parking lot and FREE shuttle to the event.
