Welcome

Our facility will be closed on Thursday, July 4th, and Friday, July 5th in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.
Our building will reopen to the public at 10am on Saturday, July 6th.

As always, our grounds and trails featuring self-guided tours are free and open daily from dawn until dusk.

Our facility is open on weekdays from 9am to 4pm and on weekends from 10am to 2pm.

Fall is the season of seeds! Join us on Saturday, October 21st from 10am to Noon to harvest native prairie flower seeds. Following a seed harvesting demonstration, it's your turn to trek through the prairie, collecting prairie flower seeds. Just as unique as their coloration and shape, bird sounds come in all tunes and pitches. This class teaches the tools and techniques for identifying birds by close listening (we don’t spend a lot of time memorizing particular bird songs). We welcome participants who are new to the hobby of birding by ear, as well as birders of any level interested in continuing to learn and practice their birding by ear skills. This class is for anyone interested in birding by ear, of all physical abilities, ages, and birding skills.

Interested in helping restore and maintain ALNC’s prairie, pond, and woodlands? Join us the second Saturday of the month, April thru October, to help control invasive species, seed with native plants, get dirty, and have some fun! Volunteer work days will focus mainly on land management and other projects as needed. Work days may be cancelled or planned activities modified due to inclement weather.
