Fall is the season of seeds! Join us on Saturday, October 21st from 10am to Noon to harvest native prairie flower seeds. Following a seed harvesting demonstration, it's your turn to trek through the prairie, collecting prairie flower seeds. We’ll close the event by gathering around a fall fire, sharing stories with a cup of warm cider. Registration strongly encouraged.

We'll join the Bird & Nature Adventure scheduled for 10am, where we'll hike through the grounds of ALNC into Edna Taylor Conservancy, exploring evidence of wildlife so abundant this time of year, nature tracks! Birding by Ear
Just as unique as their coloration and shape, bird sounds come in all tunes and pitches. This class teaches the tools and techniques for identifying birds by close listening (we don’t spend a lot of time memorizing particular bird songs). We welcome participants who are new to the hobby of birding by ear, as well as birders of any level interested in continuing to learn and practice their birding by ear skills. This class is for anyone interested in birding by ear, of all physical abilities, ages, and birding skills.

Nature Everywhere Day brings all of the energy and enthusiasm for nature connection! Join the Children & Nature Network's Nature Everywhere Conference out in the Madison community for a day of celebration and family fun! At ALNC, check out a Family Trailside Backpack (available for free) to explore our grounds from 10 am - 2 pm. Included in the backpacks are a nature bingo game, magnifying glasses, binoculars, bug viewers, ID books, and other tools to explore our natural world!

Loop the Lake is an at-your-own-pace bike ride around Lake Monona on Saturday, June 15th that raises funds to protect and preserve Greater Madison’s lakes. Find out more »Prairie Seed Harvest – Land Steward Work Day
Interested in helping restore and maintain ALNC’s prairie, pond, and woodlands? Join us the second Saturday of the month, April thru October, to help control invasive species, seed with native plants, get dirty, and have some fun! Volunteer work days will focus mainly on land management and other projects as needed. Work days may be cancelled or planned activities modified due to inclement weather.

Fall Fest returns with 'Creatures of the Night', our annual fun-filled night of spooky nature activities in 'not-so-scary' style! With activity stations indoors and out, there is plenty of FREE fall fun for everyone to enjoy. Park your car at Ahuska Park and ride a FREE shuttle to ALNC. Food carts on site.
