Last week, the Nature Preschoolers found the first morels of the season!![]()

Following the adage, morel season starts when the mayapples bloom, our Environmental Educators noticed that mayapple flowers were forming beneath their leaf canopies and decided it was time to go on a morel hunt!![]()

One of our Nature Preschool students is particularly fascinated by fungi and was delighted when Ms. Rowan found the first morel. This mushroom had already been broken from the ground and the group was able to hold and touch it for close inspection. Five minutes later, the group found a second morel and, this time, it was still attached. This was a great opportunity for the Environmental Educators to remind the students not to pick or eat anything from the land, unless you know it is absolutely safe to eat.![]()
