We are ready to welcome the public back to our facility on weekdays (Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm),
with weekend public hours coming in the future.

Because we are a childcare facility and still following public health protocols, we will retain a few restrictions, including requiring masking indoors and limited access to some public offerings and areas of our facility. We may also have to adjust our hours or access on short notice. We appreciate your patience as we work through changes in staffing and schedules, and work to find a healthy balance of access and safety for our community.

As always, our grounds and trails featuring self-guided tours are free and open daily from dawn until dusk.

In the interest of public health, we will be taking additional precautions to help decrease risk of illness from COVID-19 to our students and staff. How this looks may change depending on the program and the current metrics of our community. We will always err on the side of caution and cancel or modify programs if we even suspect we’ve had a positive case on site and therefore ask families to be prepared for last minute alterations or cancellations of programs. While this may be inconvenient and challenging, we strongly believe it is the correct choice in order to keep your family, our staff and our community as safe as possible. We will promptly share information with public health authorities, families and staff as soon as we learn of a possible or confirmed positive case. Depending on the program, changes in our operation during the pandemic include some or all of the following:

  • We are requiring curbside pick-up and drop-off for some programs and outdoor meeting spots for others.
  • Most or all activities will take place outdoors, and we may need to cancel in the event of inclement weather.
  • In spring, summer and fall, outdoor handwashing stations will be available throughout the ALNC grounds and frequent handwashing will be required.
  • All staff and participants (ages 2 and up) are required to wear masks indoors. Please review our mask policy.
  • Our facility and materials will be disinfected frequently.
  • Groups will be kept small, and we may restrict the number of programs, family members, chaperones, or others allowed on-site.
  • In the event of a positive case or other community metrics, some programs may be canceled or postponed with short notice in accordance with public health guidelines.

Join us to add an environmental education component to your home school curriculum! Classes will be offered twice weekly on Mondays from 1 to 3pm and on Tuesdays from 9:15 to 11:15am.

We will be grouping students based on age so that we can offer age-appropriate lessons. The topics will be similar, but older and younger students will explore varying age appropriate aspects of each topic.

Register online by clicking on the link above or give us a call at (608) 221-0404 x 1. For questions or additional information, please email us at Payment is needed to complete your registration and is non-refundable unless the class is canceled by ALNC staff. For supply and planning purposes, pre-registration and advance payment is required by the registration deadline to hold your spot in the class.

All homeschool classes are drop-off programs appropriate for children ages 5-12 years old.

For all sessions, registration deadline is the Friday prior to the class. This is done to allow ALNC to plan for group sizes and staffing needs. You may call to inquire about availability after registration closes, but please recognize that space may not be available.

Registration/Cancellation Policies
Payment is needed to complete your registration and is non-refundable unless the class is canceled by ALNC staff. If you notify us of cancellation within one week of the program the registration may be transferred into another class or a voucher (minus 15% administrative fee) will be issued. No vouchers or transfers are issued for absences for those enrolled in the full semester option. Any cancellations or non-attendance within one week of the program will result in a full charge of the class fee. For questions or to register by phone call (608) 221-0404 x 1 or send us an email at

Programs are held rain or shine and always include an outdoor component unless there is severe weather. Please come dressed appropriately.

Older and younger students will be grouped by age when applicable to allow for age-appropriate topic exploration. If your child has a friend or sibling of a similar age they would like to be grouped with, please let us know in your registration. For questions or to register by phone, call (608) 221-0404 x 1 or email us at

Medical information is required for all ALNC drop-off programs. You will find these medical forms during the registration process and you can fill them out right away or sign back in at a later date to do this. Please fill out the information prior to your child’s first class at ALNC. Re-authorization and updated information is required annually (our calendar year starts over in June).
